7th & 8th Grade Catechism class includes ...
- An introduction to basic Christian teaching, especially through Martin Luther's Small Catechism
- Learning more about Christian teaching, worship and the Sacraments
- Service opportunities (each student is expected to complete several hours of service projects in both 7th & 8th grade)
- Fun & fellowship experiences, in conjunction with Ignite Youth Group
Catechism Class is an important stepping stone in a young Christian's growth in the Lord. The two years spent in weekly Catechism Class provide a deeper understanding of the Bible and how it applies to our lives. Class meets on Wednesday evenings in the Fellowship Hall from 7:15-8:15 p.m. Toward the end of 8th grade Catechism, the 8th graders receive their first Communion (traditionally in the Maundy Thursday service). Confirmation Sunday to be announced.
A note on the picture above: each year, the 8th grade Catechism class plants a tree around St. Matthew's property. This apple tree was planted by our catechism students several years ago.
